My Story

-->
I thought I’d dedicate my first blog post to tell you a little bit about myself, where I came from, and how I’ve gotten to where I am today and the decision to start this blog.

I grew up in West Reading, PA and lived in that area into my early adult years. I was married young to my high school boyfriend and we brought a baby girl Lily into the world. In December 2007 when she was about 16 months old I was having a very hard time in my relationship with her father and knew that I needed to make a change.

Her and I moved in with my parents, sharing one bedroom. Was it a hard adjustment? Absolutely. But I was grateful that I had them to lean on and Lily and I made some really great memories there.

During that time I became estranged from my father because he was unhappy with my choice to leave my ex and my grandfather passed away. That was an extremely difficult time in my life. Gramps was one of the most influential men in my life. Our birthdays were a day apart and we always celebrated together. I felt really lost.

Lily would stay with her dad on the weekends so I coped by going out A LOT! And then I met Brian. Something my mom said back then was that she loved how he could make me genuinely laugh when she would hear me on the phone with him 😊

We lived an hour away from each other and pursued a long distance relationship where we were only seeing each other on the weekends. It was hard but we remained strong and in May 2012 Brian, Lily, and I moved into a house in Manayunk, Philadelphia together.

The day after Christmas 2012 we found out I was pregnant. This was obviously a total surprise but we rolled with the punches as we always do and the following September Billy completed our family.

Living away from our families has been hard but has certainly made us who we are today and such a strong family. Brian’s job is very demanding and it is very hard for me to work outside of the home while still being able to get the kids to and from school, be there for all their days off, half days, sick days, fieldtrips, school events, etc.

After strictly being a SAHM for seven years, I’ve decided to start this blog as a creative outlet and allow me to make some extra income while still being readily available to my family. I have learned so much in this season of life and feel like I have so much valuable content to share.

Bear with me as I navigate this whole Blogger thing and I’ll keep the posts coming. If you have a similar story I’d love to hear about it in the comments below 😊
